Victory saw City move to within three points of leaders Liverpool and one behind second-placed Chelsea, who beat the table-toppers 2-0 at Anfield earlier on Sunday. City narrowed the gap to Premier League leaders Liverpool to six points with a comfortable 3-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion at The Etihad on Monday. Pablo Zabaleta, Sergio Aguero and Martin Demichelis all scored for City as three different Argentinian players netted in a Premier League match for the first time. Unfortunately the game was marred by what looked like a seroius injury to David Silva who was stretchered off mid way through the second half with his right leg in a brace.

City sorely missing the injured David Silva and Yaya Toure, are now six points behind leaders Liverpool with a game in hand. Fernandinho's second-minute strike was cancelled out by a second-half brace from Connor Wickham, before Samir Nasri earned a late draw for the hosts.

The 3-2 reverse at Anfield on Sunday left City seven points behind Liverpool and five off Chelsea but, because of their games in hand, they are in a better position than they were two years ago when they pipped rivals United to the title.
